Things to Eat around Portsmouth

So after you get done with all your "things to do" you may want to kick back and grab a bite or a drink...or both. Here is a list of places we recommend while you are in town. We also would like to remind everyone (I think we posted it earlier) that it is UNH graduation weekend. That means it will be very busy in town. The 'finer' dinning restaurants (as well as all hotels; see post below) will book early! If you are looking for a great meal (which there are plenty to be had) please consider making reservations early. Here's the list...

The Kitchen Deli - owned and run by a few guys from the City (You know which one I mean) Juliana has been working here for the past few months and Caleb and I eat there (at least) once a week. Hey, we trust these guys enough to cater our rehearsal dinner AND our wedding.Whether you go into the restaurant to eat during the weekend or not, you will thoroughly enjoy what these guys are capable of!

The Black Trumpet Bistro - I have a soft spot for this place. I worked there for almost 5 years. Amazing food and great people. They will fill up early on graduation weekend. If you want to enjoy the best fine dining in the area, please visit them, but make sure to call and reserve a table. You may see some of their faces at the wedding (I think we invited half of the staff!)

TJ's Restaurant of Portsmouth. Tj's is right in the heart of downtown Portsmouth. They have an awesome menu and is a great place for everyone to sit, enjoy a beer, a great plate of nachos (or Caleb's favorite- sliders) and a laugh. Bethany, the owner (and long time friend) has been kind enough to reserve us the back bar room for the night before the wedding. A bit more on that to come.

Colby's Breakfast and Lunch Great place for breakfast! It is small and the largest table squeezes 6. It will fill up early. They do not take call ahead reservations, but they do offer coffee while you wait.

Cafe Kilim Need Coffee in the morning? This is your place.

Gilley's Lunch Truck This is classic Portsmouth staple. It has national recognition and is one of the oldest lunch trucks around. PLEASE BE AWARE, as the hours get later, the patrons get a bit seedier. It is open for lunch, but also stays open until after the bars close. Best to grab a dog while the sun is up.

The Black Birch This place was just opened by some friends of mine and is REALLY incredible. If you like (LOVE) beer and enjoy great food, please check them out. They are small and they fill up quickly, so go early or call ahead.

Morrison's Lobsters AWESOME place for lobsters, with a great feel. It is BYOB, so plan accordingly. ALSO (found this out the hard way) TIP IS INCLUDED in the bill! It's a great LITTLE place to enjoy some sunshine, a beer and some lobster.

Street (Eat and drink 360) I helped open and worked here for 9 months. Great place to grab some 'street food from around the word'. They've got tons of stuff that you won't find anywhere else in town. They seat just shy of 100 people, so they can be accommodating to large parties (and children). They also serve a wonderful brunch on sundays.
